Community Projects
Involvement with Scouting inevitably puts you in contact with other community leaders and organizers. I have had the privilege of working on some very worthwhile projects that have benefitted scouting as well as the community at large.

TURKEY DAY DASH 2023
Elizabeth Zernik and I kicked off the resurrection of the Turkey Day Dash back in Feb 2023. Unbeknownst to us, another group from Five07 coffee was doing the same. Fortunately, our paths collided and together we brought this long standing family tradition back to life. With over 2,200 signups and over $56,000 raised for scouts, Kiwanis and the YMCA, it was an outstanding success. Be back in 24.

FIRST RESPONDERS MEMORIAL
My son has reached that point in his Scouting career that he needs to do his Eagle project to attain the rank of Eagle scout. Go big or go home has been the Beatty motto and he has certainly lived up to that with this First Responders Memorial. Set to be completed in late January 2024.

CONEJO VALLEY DAYS PARADE
Wendy Macleod has had a passion to bring back the Conejo Valley Days Parade. She presented to the City Council her intentions and I saw her post on Facebook. The two of us met and together we have started building momentum on bringing this Thousand Oaks tradition back. I have built the website for the Parade as well as work closely with Wendy on logistical issues.
